Problems addressed in the ALPTNT01_071 kit


      o  DISKIMAG.EXE is an OpenVMS Management Station  V2.1  file  that
         ships with the OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS VAX operating systems.
         The file shipped with OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 is in the  wrong  file
         format  and  therefore,  corrupt.   The  file  is  shipping  as
         "stream" and should be in the format  "Fixed  length  512  byte
         records".

         DISKIMAG.EXE  is  located  in   the   [TNT.CLIENT]   directory.
         Normally,   the   customer   would  FTP  the  DISKIMAG.EXE  and
         TNTCLID%.IMG  files  from  [TNT.CLIENT]  to  their   PC.    The
         DISKIMAG.EXE file is then used to expand the TNTCLID%.IMG files
         to create floppy media used to install the  OpenVMS  Management
         Station  on a PC.  However, if the customer attempts to use the
         current DISKIMAG.EXE shipped with OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 to  expand
         the TNTCLID%.IMG files, the program will fail and be terminated
         by Windows.

     information,  is provided to serve as a guide as to which customers
     should apply this remedial kit.  (Reference attached Disclaimer  of

       2 : To be installed by all customers using the following feature(s):

Installation Instructions:

     Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility  by  logging  into  the
     SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt:

         @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL ALPTNT01_071 [location of the saveset]

     The saveset location may be a tape drive, or a disk directory  that
     contains the kit saveset.

     No reboot is necessary after successful installation of the kit.

     After  installation  is  complete,   FTP   the   DISKIMAG.EXE   and
     TNTCLID%.IMG  files from [TNT.CLIENT] to your PC.  The DISKIMAG.EXE
     file is then used to expand the TNTCLID%.IMG files to create floppy
     media.  Use this media to install the OpenVMS Management Station on
     a PC.
