November, 1995 OSMS/OSDS Release Notes for AXP Version 3.3 ------------------------------------------- Installation: ------------- OSMS and OSDS are installed using VMSINSTAL.COM. See the Installation Guide for additional instructions. The V3.3 distribution is for OpenVMS AXP V6.1-1H2 and higher for systems in a standalone direct connection configuration or for MSCP served cluster configurations. Enhancements: ------------- GENERAL: OpenVMS AXP MSCP served cluster configurations are now supported. However, host CPU failover and HSx connection is not supported at this time. Additional support for various hardware platforms, reference SPD for details. Additional support for OpenVMS V6.2. JKDRIVER: Changes in the swap algorithm in association with each volume now having its own cache file. WDDRIVER: Changes to allow use of total capacity of RWZxx drives. This allows media to be compatible for use via an HSC connection or direct SCSI connection. Add psuedo (JB) unit number logging in error log entries for WD device errors. This allows the determination of which media was in the drive at the time of the error. Previously this could not be done if the drive was inside a jukebox. Bug Fixes: ---------- JKDRIVER: Correction of a problem leading to volumes encountering "not ready for I/O" errors. Correction of conditions leading to volumes hanging in mount verification. Correction of coding problem which could lead to system failures. JBUAPI: Corrected a problem were removes of cartridges from a jukebox drive would cause the cartridge to be left in the robot and unknown to software. WDDRIVER: Changed timeout of Prevent/Allow Remove command to 30 seconds. This was in response to a problem which caused overlapped commands to impede use of jukeboxes during media removal. Return the correct byte count on partial transfers that end in error. Restrictions: ------------- WORM optical disk cannot be populated incrementally. Currently, only WORM optical disks containing a copy of a Files-11 volume can be used. Known Problems: --------------- JBUTIL will return the error "JBUTIL-F-INVDEV, Jukebox device (LASERSTAR$JB or JBA0:) not defined" if an INIT operation is being done to JBA0: from a remote node. Under OpenVMS AXP 6.2 issuing a MOUNT command when media has not been inserted into the drive will result in an "%MOUNT-F-INTDIV, arithmetic trap, divide by zero at PC=xxxxxxx, PS=xxxxxxxx" error message. Issuing a MOUNT command when media has not been inserted into the drive may not prompt you with an OPCOM message to insert the media. The MOUNT command only completes when a cartridge is inserted into the drive or the mount verification timeout period has elasped.
