This document is intended for use with DECNIS V3.1 software. 1 CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Post Installation Instructions After installing the update kit all DECNIS servers which require up- dating with the latest DECNIS software must be rebooted. If you have configured any DECNIS servers to load using the FLASH_FULL or FLASH_PART load options, you will have to modify the load config- uration to ensure that the latest version of the DECNIS software will be loaded the next time the DECNIS servers are rebooted. o To do this for an individual DECNIS server, use the UPDATE option in the DECNIS Host Configurator. o To do this for all your previously configured DECNIS servers, On an OpenVMS® VAX system $ @SYS$MANAGER:NIS$HOST_CONFIG UPDATE FIX 1.2 Structure Of Problem Descriptions For each problem that is corrected by this kit, the following infor- mation is provided: o Problem statement o Identification of the kit in which the problem was fixed. Introduction 3 CHAPTER 2 OSI ROUTING PROBLEMS FIXED OSI Routing Problems Fixed 5 CHAPTER 3 IP ROUTING PROBLEMS FIXED 3.1 Insufficient IP Destinations events Statement When the DECNIS was configured to use OSPF with some number of equal cost path splits in the network the Insufficient IP Destinations event may have been generated some time after the DECNIS system has been booted. Fixed in Kit: 2.3-2 3.2 Integrated ISIS supernetting of IP addresses Statement ISIS did not allow supernetting of IP addresses, leading to reacha- bility problems Fixed in Kit: V2.3-2 IP Routing Problems Fixed 7 CHAPTER 4 OSPF ROUTING PROBLEMS FIXED 4.1 Routes Imported from OSPF into IS-IS not propagated Statement When importing OSPF routes into ISIS, routes were not correctly prop- agated when the PROPAGATE DESTINATION was enabled. This meant that if you enabled the PROPAGATE DESTINATION after OSPF has started then the routes were only imported when or if they were re-generated. Fixed in Kit: V2.3-2 OSPF Routing Problems Fixed 9 CHAPTER 5 NETWARE IPX ROUTING PROBLEMS FIXED 5.1 DECNIS IPX interoperability with Novell NE2000T+ ethernet card Statement This release will now inter-work correctly with PC systems using the the Novell NE2000T+ card, or any other cards using drivers that re- quire IPX packets to be generated with an even number of bytes within 802.3 frames. Fixed in Kit: V2.3-2 NetWare IPX Routing Problems Fixed 11 CHAPTER 6 X.25 PROBLEMS FIXED 6.1 X.25 relay outgoing call is onto a LAPB 'DTE' fail Statement In prior releases of this kit, X25 relay outgoing call is onto a LAPB 'DTE' may have previously created random user-data in the transmit- ted packets, and therefore failed. Inbound calls and calls to LLC2, 'DCEs' or remote relay nodes would not have been affected. Fixed in Kit: V2.3-2 X.25 Problems Fixed 13 CHAPTER 7 DATALINK PROBLEMS FIXED Datalink Problems Fixed 15 CHAPTER 8 DECNIS CONFIGURATOR PROBLEMS FIXED 8.1 Adding IP Reachable addresses on an FDDI interface results in a core dump Statement Attempts to add any IP Reachable addresses on an FDDI interface re- sulted in a crash, due to an incorrect reachable circuit type. Fixed in Kit: V2.3-2 DECNIS Configurator Problems Fixed 17
